On Friday 2nd May, we are asking schools to collect donations of £1 per child, to help Germ’s Journey educate children around the world about hand-hygiene and infection prevention.

To raise awareness on this day schools could choose between (or combine):

  • A non-uniform day.
  • Take part in a ‘bring your own bubbles’ playtime, where each child brings in bubbles to play with, symbolising the bubbles we create when we wash our hands with soap and water.
  • Take part in a competition, where children create their own Hand Hygiene awareness poster. The 3 winning entries will win a set of Germ’s Journey books for their school, and the posters will be displayed on the Germ's Journey website to help us raise awareness. Please submit your posters to [email protected] by 23rd May 2025.

We have sent schools some quick and easy-to-teach resources.

Germ's Journey - JustGiving

If you would like to support the work that Germ's Journey do, then please donate via our JustGiving page. Alternatively, you can support us by following Germ's Journey on social media (LinkedIn Facebook, YouTube Twitter/'X' & Instagram) and sharing our projects within your networks.

We are asking schools to send the £1 donations via our Just Giving page (above)

This donation will help Germ’s Journey create hand-hygiene packs, books, posters, videos and deliver life-saving education to children in India, Kenya and Pakistan. Almost 5 million children under 5 years die each year, that’s 13,400 children dying every day, due predominately to infectious diseases that are preventable by washing hands.

Children deserve to know how to protect themselves, and their loved ones, from infection. Germ’s Journey co-create educational resources and training that recognise varying needs across different age groups and cultures to enable learning for all.

Without donations, Germ’s Journey is not able to continue this vital education.

We need your help to give more children the health foundation of infection prevention education.

Join us and teach them how to protect themselves, and those they love, for life.
